Service charges in peak season
Each year holiday season comes in which the number of tourists visiting increases which immensely profits resorts. The peak months are notedly December and March each year. During peak season and not too, some resorts pay their employees extra as service charges. Most resorts pay their employees extra during these peak seasons. Irrespective of the position or the salary every staff is entitled to receive the same amount from the resort.
Highest Service Charge in January
A successful festive season means an impressive service charge for the resort employees. Since the holiday season in December, resort services receive some of the highest service charges in January 2023. Let’s look at some of the highest service charges of January. The highest recorded amount was received by the staff of Cheval Blanc Randheli located in Noonu Atoll which made an impressive whopping $3,540.31 each.

The second most service charge was given by One&Only Reethi Rah which gave a notable $3,054.00 service charge. Soneva Jani followed with $2,119.73 while 7 other resorts paid more than $1,000 for each staff.
Despite the more than 100 resorts in the Maldives, only these 10 resorts paid an impressively high amount for their staff. Some resorts reportedly do not give service charges while other resorts give a little. Some resorts in the aftermath of Covid stop giving the legally entitled service charges. This created a wave of complaints from hoteliers and resorts staffs, with staff narrating their resort life stories. Though the issue exists the insurance of service charge has improved immensely.
