Tourist Arrival from Italy Has Significantly Increased
Tourist arrival from Italy has significantly increased compared to the same duration last year.
According to Ministry of Tourism, tourist arrival from Italy has significantly increased this year.
Italy, according to the Ministry, has become the fifth largest market of tourists to the Maldives. Recording 49,080 Italian tourists visit so far this year. This is a 1,024% increase compare to the same period last year. Without a doubt, Total number of tourists visiting Maldives has also increased totally 900,808 tourists as of 20th July. This is a 58% increase compared to last years this period.
Currently, the highest number of tourists arrives from India. 120,604 tourists have arrived to Maldives from India so far this year. This is a 35% increase compared to the same period last year. In addition the second highest significant tourist visits were from the United Kingdom. 96,470 UK Tourists arrived this year making a 608 increase compared to last year.
In addition, the highest number of tourist are notably visiting from India, UK, Russia, Germany, and Italy. Large number of tourists also visits from US, UAE, France, Switzerland, and Saudi Arabia.
Maldives Marketing and Public Relation Cooperation MMPRC/ Visit Maldives is a government organisation responsible for Marketing Maldives Tourism. They have been promoting Maldives nonstop and as a result, tourist arrivals have increased significantly.
MMPRC’s most recent campaign include campaign with Green Me, an Italian sustainability lifestyle magazine. This campaign aims to showcase Maldives as a close-to-heart destination for the Italian market. In addition, it will also highlight a personalized connection between Maldives and Italy in the tourism industry. These include history of Italian tourists some parents and grandparents who have holidayed in Maldives.
The smoothening Covid 19 pandemic is also another major cause of increase in tourist arrival. With opening borders and less travel restrictions, more people travels to their favorite destination.
