Kudagiri Picnic Island offers Ramadan packages this Ramadan. 

Wouldn’t it be great to have iftar in a picnic setting? The fun and romantic holiday feels are not only available in resorts but you can achieve it nearby. Housing Development Corporation (HDC) earlier this week announced that Kudagiri Picnic Island would offer special iftar buffet packages during the holy month of Ramadan. 

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih officially inaugurated Kudagiri Picnic Island on 11th February 2023. Designated as a picnic island for the residents of the greater Male’ region, the island is one of the pledged administrations by the government. At the opening ceremony, the president highlighted the tropical “Jazeera” lifestyle is intertwined with our lives. He also stressed that for residents of the greater Male’ area, the picnic island with our family had been gone for the past 10 years. Since the allocation of Kuda Bandos. 

It takes 5 – 10 minutes to reach the island via the Kudagiri ferry. The ferry is available in both Male’ and Hulhumale. Furthermore, the picnics are to book prior via the Kudagiri app. Interested parties shall book the iftar buffets in advance via the app. However, those who want to bring their own food can also bring iftar to the island.  

In addition to the iftar menu, HDC has made other changes for Ramadan. The island is open every day except Sunday. Ferry timings have also changed with five ferry services on weekends between 1415-2000hrs with return from 1930-2245hrs. On weekdays the ferry will operate from 1415-1930hrs and return from 1930-2245hrs. Kudagiri picnic island is a whole picnic and holiday package. The island includes huts, beaches, cafes, and other public services. It also offers recreational services including volleyball and futsal courts, a children’s park, and water slides. Furthermore, the island has changing rooms, barbecue pits, retail shops, and a mosque.
