Maldives’ Top Tourist Attractions summarized
The Maldives’ islands, left to the mercy of the gentle and lapping Indian Ocean, have been molded and shaped into arguably one of the most quintessentially gorgeous tropical tourist attractions on the planet.
The entire nation may be found strewn over the turquoise oceans someway from the Indian subcontinent, from the powdery beaches of the northern atolls to the earthy sea shacks and fishing hamlets of the southern isles.
1. Male
Male, the capital of the Maldives’Atolls has the frantic sense of a city packed into a slot too tiny for it.
The town is squeezed into a pint-sized islet in the North Male Atoll, and although it is rarely visited (most visitors bypass the city on seaplanes bound for their resort), it is crammed onto a pint-sized islet in the North Male Atoll.
Male Market is another must-see – just make sure your bartering abilities are up to par.
2. Hulhumale Island
The island of Hulhumale, located just over the beautiful seas from the capital of Male, is constantly expanding as more and more land is reclaimed to accommodate the city’s vast urban tentacles.
It is also the location of the Velana International Airport, which serves as the primary entrance to these idyllic islands for the majority of visitors.
Don’t be turned off by how all of this sounds; Hulhumale is a beautiful place.
3. Maafushi tourist attractions
Maafushi may lack the huge luxury resorts and lavish 5-star hotels that many of its surrounding brethren possess, but it is not without charm.
Sadly destroyed by the 2004 Indian Ocean Tsunami, the area has spent the last decade busily repairing its salt-washed fishing jetties and hardworking sailor cottages.
4. Utheemu tourist attractions
The picturesque location of Utheemu, a tourist attraction, located on the far northern limits of the Haa Alif Atoll, the northernmost of all the Maldivian island groups, occupies a particular position in the history of this archipelago country.
This is because it was formerly the residence of the renowned Sultan Mohamed Thakurufaanu, the leader credited with driving away Portuguese invaders from the isles in the late 16th century.
5. Thulusdhoo Island
Thulusdhoo Island appears to be driven by the spirit of the salt-washed Caribbean.
This unknown speck in the Male Atolls is surrounded by vast sand areas from which bulbous coconut stems emerge by the hundreds.
The beaches are, of course, fantastic, and the locals enjoy bringing in their faded fishing boats to set up a nice sizzling seafood barbecue every now and again.
6. Gan tourist attractions
Gan is most known for its airport, which is the second-largest in the Maldives and a notable former British Royal Air Force station during WWII. Today, the island has abandoned its former military significance in favor of tourism, and it is gradually rising to become one of the most popular destinations in the Addu Atoll.
