What causes us to age faster?
Ever wondered what causes us to age faster? Many of us would wish to stay young and have a beautiful skin. So what causes our skin to age faster? One could be sunlight.
Ultra Violet (UV) Radiation cause DNA changes in the skin, which can lead to premature aging and skin cancer. Sunrays can cause short term sunburns. However there can also be long term consequences of sun exposure on skin.
Photaging is when sun causes premature aging of skin. Symptoms of photoaging include wrinkles, spots and loss of facial elasticity. It can also lead to skin cancer, it happens when ultraviolet rays hit the skin which does not have sunscreen causing DNA changes in a cellular level. Photo damages happens at the deepest layers of the skin. So it can take years of the damages to become visible. Additionally, signs of photoaging includes wrinkles, loss of skin tone, pigmentation, broken capillaries and redness.
Freeradicals also contributes to skin aging. They are chemically unstable molecules that attacks cells and damages DNA. This process accelerates aging. Furthermore, freeradicals are also known to increase the risk of cancer. It is also responsible for breaking down our skins collagen. This leads to unflattery skin and blemishes like wrinkling, dark spots, fine lines and saggy and loose skin.

Treatment of these include lasers, chemical peeling and tropical medications as well as dermatological and laser surgery. Sunscreen and vitamin E can prevent these outcomes to a certain extent. Sunscreen protect the skin form harmful sun rays.
There are 3 kinds of UV lights, UVA, UVB and UVC. Dermatologist recommends using a broad spectrum sunscreen which will shield the skin from both UVA and UVB rays.
Vitamin E is essential for maintaining a healthy skin. Vitamin E can also absorb energy from UV light. Preventing UV induced freeradicals damage to the skin. Vitamin E may also have relative anti-inflammatory roles in the skin.
